Hi!
I will post the information that I have on Albertus Greslet later as I don't have the information with me now. However, the Thomas Gridley of 1650 and Thomas of 1612 are directly related. They are father and son. This is all well documented in four books by Thomas Boslooper, PhD, whose wife is also a Gridley descendant. He did a great amount of research on the Gridley family. Since former President Gerald R. Ford is a Gridley descendant, all of Boslooper's books are on file at the Grand Rapids Public Library here in Michigan. I have also located additional information which I will post soon. Hopefully, this will clear up some confusion.
As for Albertus Greslet, tracing back family roots back that far can prove tricky. Boslooper, according to his book, seems to think that the Gridley clan got started with Albertus Greslet, who rode into England with William the Conqueror's army in 1066. Since those were the Normandy invasions, it might be assumed that Greslet was French. Again, they didn't keep precise family records in 1066.
A word of warning to everyone: never take anything that you find online as fact unless there is a documented source to back it up. There's nothing worse than finding out that the person you thought you were related to is really of no relation at all.
Take care.
Rebecca
