Thanks, but those names don't ring a bell.
WILLIAM LEWIS
b. 1737 in Farmington, Hartford Co, CT
d. 1820 in Upper Lisle, Broome Co, NY
married in 1774 (his 2nd marriage)
AZUBAH GRIDLEY
b. 8 Feb 1749 in Farmington, Hartford Co, CT
d. 1836
Their sons JESSE LEWIS & JAMES LEWIS ended up in Potter Co, PA.
Jesse's son ORANGE A LEWIS "the elder" married his first cousin, MARY LAVINIA LEWIS, the daughter of James. One of their children was WILLIAM HENRY HARRISON LEWIS.
It's my understanding that someone named June Howard was done a lot of research on this family.
I have names, dates, places... what I need is *documentation*, e.i. photocopies of birth, death, marriage certificates, baptism records, etc -- anything that can be used as *proof* of direct ancestry for the DAR/SAR.
And of course I would be thrilled to meet other living descendants from the Wm.H.H. Lewis line!
Thanks,
Kate
