Mildred Florence CROFT was the younger daughter of Jessie Edna WARD, born January 5th, 1890, St. Andrews', Walton County, Florida & her husband, James Ernest Croft, born March 25th, 1885, Freeport, Walton County, Florida, died October 6th, 1918, Pensacola, Escambia County, Florida in the Great Spanish Flu Pandemic.

-- (2) Jessie Edna WARD married (Secondly) to Mr. Fred Peterman. Fred Peterman was born November 17th, 1885 ; he married 15th July, 1924, Pensacola, Escambia County, Florida to Jessie Edna (WARD) Croft at the First M. E. Church S., by C. C. Daniel, Pastor.
-- (3) Jessie Edna WARD married (Thirdly) to Mr. William Walter HILL (divorced 1949, Pensacola, Florida) - William Walter HILL, married Jessie Peterman on February 19th, 1937. William was born in Woodstock, Georgia, was age 53, worked as an Electrician, they were married in Pensacola, Escambia County, Florida.
Jessie Edna (nee WARD) used the surname of (HILL) on February 23rd, 1953, but after her divorced from him, she took back the previous (married) surname of PETERMAN, used it till her death ; was buried under that surname in Pensacola, Florida next to Mr. Fred Peterman, who was also a Mason, her 2nd husband.
Consequently, whenever she applied for Reparation money, she very well may have used the names of JESSIE EDNA HILL, otherwise, she was a WARD by birth, then CROFT, then PETERMAN, with which name she died under six days before her 80th Birthday, on death date of December 28th, 1970, Gadsden County, Florida.
Jessie Edna (nee WARD) Peterman was buried at the St. Johns' Cemetery located off Jackson Street and “J” Streets in Pensacola, Escambia County, Florida.
Jessie Edna WARD was the daughter of Jessie Eldridge WARD who it is said, suffered because of his Indian Heritage. Jessie Eldridge WARD is said to be of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation, & a direct descendant of NAHOGA, otherwise known as Elizabeth ENGLISH.

B[ENJAMIN] WARD born in 1796 who served as an Indian agent & did much to keep peace with the War-like [sic] Creeks.
He married ELIZABETH ENGLISH, a charming Creek maiden, and they sleep peacefully on the Jesse Purvis farm near Malvern, now owned by Randall Collins whose mother was a Purvis.
His labors were in Georgia, Washington County, Mississippi, Wakefield, Richmond, Daleville, & Newton. This prominent couple has many descendants in the Wiregrass.”
