Only discovered this site yesterday so hope you are still in touch with it.
I am one of 2 sons of Frederick Grieveson, the other being Alan. Our father was born in 1911 at the then family home, Penshaw Lodge, Penshaw, to James Porteous Grieveson (born 26.12.1883) and Edith Grieveson (nee Robson).
James Porteous G. was the son of Christopher G. (born 22.4.1857) who married Isabella Allan (born 23.8.1860) on 30.11.1880. As well as James Porteous G., who was born at 8 Avenue Terrace, Sunderland, Christopher and Isabella had the following:
George Frederick G., b.16.4.1882 at Offerton Street, Sunderland
Annie May G., b.1886 at 5 Glebe Cleft Villas, Síland
Harry Hopper G., b.8.9.1888 at 6 The Royalty, Síland
       Frank Pearson G., b. 30.7.1891 at 6 The Royalty
       Alan Percy G., b. 24.3.1895 at 6 The Royalty
Mary Elizabeth G., b18.6.1899 at Butterdyke Farm, Leechmere, Síland.

Will email this to Tom Potts who has a ĎPorteousí in his background.

Paul.
