Alexander Meriwether Griffing, born ca. 1815 in KY, married Frances "Fanny" Meriwether Gray 19 February 1839. He died by 1857 when Fanny married Meredith Ambrose Helm in White County, IL. Alexander and Fanny were parents of Bertha Griffing born ca. 1844 IL and m. Voigt; and probably of P. Gray Griffing who d. age 8 months 15 days 17 August 1840, buried Grayville, IL. Bertha Griffin appears with M.A. and Fanny Helm in the 1860 McMinn County, TN census. Meredith Helm was born ca. 1815 in VA, died 1879 Athens, TN.
