I know that there is a discussion already on the forum about this Robert Griffing, but I hope this post will bring new hits and new sharing of information. Linda Sykes shared this with me originally. She is a descendant of Susannah Griffing. I descend from Harriet M. Griffing.
The fact that our Robert has a son Zadock, and a grandson Jasper, leads me to believe that he is part of the Jersey settlers in Mississippi.
Robert Griffing/Griffin married Elizabeth Shaw in Jefferson Co. MS Mar.4, 1807 in Jefferson Co.
MS.(The name, Griffin or Griffing, even in court documents, is interchanged.)
The Bible record includes the following:
Robert Griffing, born Sept.30, 1776-July 2,1846
Elizabeth Shaw, born April 28, 1786
Sidney G. W. Griffing Dec. 30,1807-July 2,1848
Benjamin F. Griffing May 12, 1809
Elvina Griffing Mar. 13, 1811-Aug. 29, 1824
Harriet M. Griffin Feb. 23,1814(no "g" on Griffin)
Zadok Griffing Mar. 26, 1816-June 22, 1825
Amanda S. Griffing Feb. 3, 1818-Mar. 10, 1889
Daniel Griffing Sept.11, 1820-Aug. 1, 1823

Susannah H. Griffing July 9, 1826
John F. Brown Sept. 15,1815-Sept. 3, 1844
Part of the pages are missing, and the only marriage that is recorded is Susanah Griffing to John F.
Brown on Oct. 24, 1843. Susanah married (2) Hiram McCanlies in Hempstead Co. AR. She died
