Hi Gritts
I was given a bit of info that may or may not tie into the Gritts family.
But a person named OOWAYU VSGI DAYASI is buried in a GRitts cemetary in OK. this indian name is very simular to my great.... grandpa Dasi gi ya gi ( spelled many ways but the root word being turtle Dvasi) and we were wondering if there might be some connection.
sir names we know are connected are boots/shoeboots/Boot/ ross / hammer , the Ridges were caretakers of the family after shoeboots death. so this name buried there is especially interesting as it sort of contains some of that family indian names too oowatie . does anyone know who is buried there with that name?
eliza boots is registered with the dawes her father is listed a Teegeeski boots and her mother as Nancy boots .
could this Teegeeski ( shoeboots name is spelled simular to this at times) and well do any of you have a gritts nancy maybe that married a unknown person? this might just be one of shoeboots and Daull's sons john or William Or Lewis. my guess William who lived with the Ridges and was there when John was killed.
anyone have any clue who this Turtle is that is buried in your Gritts Cemetary?
Oh one more question do you have a Joe married to a Mary Polly in your family they would have been born about 1820's. I am missing the husband and white names of elizabeth's younger sister Mary polly boots. could the Joe be a Gritts? renee
