these people from the Jefferson Co. NY area did tend to travel together. My Matilda Spalsbury b. 1829 married Almarion (Almeron?) Stevens b. 1828 , 1848/49.Their older children were born in NY.Then they moved to Wisc.
Greene Wisc.Baraboo,Dauk Wisc. They were in Wisc. by 1855, probably before then.By 1868 they were in Freeborn co. MN.I have the Spalsbury line back to the immigrant ancestor will dated 1803.I have almost nothing on Stevens except that the name Stevens most likely is the name of the family that raised him and brothers? after parents killed?Older note indicates name prior to Stevens may have been Bernus (Bernu?).And that name does occur on census near that area.Of the 14 children that Matilda and Almarion had, and lived to be grown, one married a McWilliam, and that family had been in Dane Co. Wisc. and Rock Co? prior to moving to Iowa with a stay or visit in MN in about 1867/8. Before the McWilliams went to Wisc. he had spend several years in St. Lawrence Co. NY.4th child John Stevens married an Amelia Counters.6th child, Julia married an A.B. Wetzel.8th child, Estella married an E.Blackburn.9th child Hattie married an Edgar Skiff.10th child Mabelle Stevens m. a S. WASHBURN.11th child, Cora Stevens m. a W. Conrad and apparently in 1914 they were living in OK.12th child Nellie m. a Myron Norton.I do not have a clue as to the spouses of the other children. And, I do not know if the groatis one of the daughters whose spouse I do not have, or a granddaughter or a great granddaughter by marriage etc.You might try Montgomery Co. NY records or Tyron Co. NY records thru US Gen Web.Let me know if more questions or this does not make any sense.Barbra
