My ancestor fought in the Civil War with his tentmate, Charles Groger. They were from Edinboro (Erie Co.) PA and were in Company D of the 83rd PA INV. That Charles Groger died of wounds received at Gettysburg. Probably not the same fellow but thought I'd put this out there.

Is there any other identifying items on your photograph? My ancestor was Lewis Sherrod, who was later killed at Petersburg. Both Sherrod and Groger are buried in the Sherrod-Greenfield cemetery near Edinboro, PA.
