Ferdinand Moritz Gromes

I'm looking for more information concerning my maternal grandfather, Ferdinand Moritz Gromes, born 4 Aug 1889 in Austria. He died 1973 in Bradford Co, PA.
"Fred" as he was known in the US came here on 19 Feb 1914. Port of departure was Bremen, Germany to Philadelphia, PA. I believe the ship was Brandenburg. His papers are in German(?) and I cannot really read them.
Fred never spoke of his life prior to coming to America, that I recall. In 1920 he married Gertrude J. VAN LUVEN born 5 Nov 1900. They lived much of their life in Straits Corners, Tioga Co, NY and Pennsylvania. They had 8 children: Harriet b. bef. 1930, Leo b. bef. 1930 died as a child, Robert b. bef. 1930 died as a child, Cora Elizabeth b. bef. 1930, Eleanor b. bef. 1930, Frederick Arthur b. 1928, Margaret b. 1935 & Richard b. 1940.
We're unsure who Fred's parents were and if he had any siblings. These are the things we would like to know. Any info appreciated. Thank you, Teri
