I read with interest all the posts about John Groscost-Christina Noll and descendants, especially the Daniel who died in 1822. Can you help me connect this Groscost family of Adams County, Pa.? My third great grandmother, Sophia Groscost (1803-1873) married about 1821, John Decker (1800-1877), son of Frederick, also of Adams County. They are found in PA census 1850 on page 186b, Adams County, Oxford twp, lines 29-39, h/h 70/70 with their 9 children. In searching for the Groscost name at ancestry.com yesterday, I found a public notice, dated 24 November 1829 in the Adams Sentinel, 25 November 1829 regarding Samuel Bowser, who died intestate. Listed are the many heirs and legal representatives, including "...Elizabeth, intermarried with Daniel Groscost, who died leaving issue three children, to wit: Sophia, intermarried with John Decker, Jesse Groscost, and Eliza Groscost;... It would seem that one of the Daniels, perhaps the one who died in 1822, married first to Elizabeth, who appears to be the deceased Samuel Bowser's daughter. Was this the same Daniel, who married Christina Decker in 1814? Can anyone help me sort this out? Any suggestions you may have are most welcome. If you're interested, I posted the complete transcription of the Samuel Bowser public notice from the Adams Sentinel on the PAAdams, Bowser and Decker lists at rootsweb.com yesterday.
