Posted by: Kevin Bacon (ID *****2078) Date: October 28, 2010 at 10:04:53
  of 2957

Joseph Keithline Gross (1833-1924) was born at Wilkes Barre, Luzerne, Pennsylvania a son of George Gross (1807-1845) and Mary Keithline (1803-1880). The family moved to a farm in Muncy, Lycoming, Pennsylvania about 1838 where the father died in 1845. The family remained on the farm until 1856 when Mary moved west to DeKalb Co., Illinois settling in the town of Mayfield with her six children: Sarah (1831-1916), Joseph, William (1835-1886), Elizabeth 1838-1924), Catherine (1840-1919 and Mary (1842-1867) and a nephew, William Remala (1829-1896). Joseph Gross was married in 1866 to Sarah Jane "Jennie" Dimon (1838-1921) and they had three children: Edith May (1867-1869), James Dimon (1870-1955) and Nellie Leona (1876-1958). Family records indicate that the father, George Gross was a farmer and blacksmith and that he was born at Lehigh county, Pennsylvania a son of Philip Gross and Catherine Deiley the 3rd of ten children: Sarah, Mary, George, Daniel, Joseph, David, Ann, Elizabeth, Charles and Lucinda. I am interested to learn more about this Gross family if anybody has something to share.
