Confusion???I see a Thomas Gross 1678-1728 Hingham, Massachusetts father of Hincks Gross 1708 - 1786...
Then a Deacon Thomas Gross 1740 - 1817 father of Hincks Gross 1780-1861. Are these separate branches? Where is the split otherwise?

I am searching ancestors of Nelson Leroy Gross, Civil War Soldier from Spencer Township, Kent County, Michigan...I think.

The Cowles-Hennis Heritage by Lee Cowles has the earlier Thomas and Hincks. He says Thomas married Elizabeth Hincks. Hincks Gross married Abigail Crowell.
