Elisha S and Francis J (Smith) Gross?
Posted by: Paul Cummings (ID *****2030) Date: October 01, 2011 at 14:48:11

I believe there's a chance I may be somehow related to Elisha. According to the 1880 census record for Doddridge County WV, he's living there with his wife Francis and two children Elisha and Albertson.
What's interesting is my gg-grandfather (Alexander Cummings)is mentioned just the line before with his wife Nancy (Gross/Grose). They had just moved to WV from PA and may have apparently moved next door to Nancy's dad/brother? I find it too convenient that she happened to be a Grose and happened to move from PA to WV - next door to another Grose of no relation.
Her name from all my records is Nancy Ann Grose (or Gross). I haven't been able to find out who she's related to. There's no record of their marriage nor her death that I can find (I've been to the courthouses in PA and WV).
One of her son's birth records says she was born in Nicholas county WV while another says Barbour county WV.
Also, it seems she disappears around 1902 - I believe she died of typhoid in 1902 but it's not substantiated.
Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Note: She would have been born around 1856 in West Virginia.
