I am a direct descendant of the Gruenewald Family No. 2. My great-grandmother was Catherine Bredenbeck, who married Max Hackl. They had two children, my two aunts, Wilhelmina (later Kessler and known as Tootsie; no children) and Charlotte (later Welch and Plank and known as Lottie). Tootsie is buried in Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Charles, Mo. Lotte is buried in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, with her husband, Cliff Plank, who served in World War I and was left for dead in the Argonne Forest. (He outlived Lottie.) Max Hackl died, supposedly killed working on the Missouri bridge at St. Charles. Then my great-grandmother Catherine married Henry Meyer. She had three more children, my grandmother Mona (Monika), my aunt Lavina (always called Mutzie), and my great-uncle LeeRoy, who was the youngest but the first to die. My grandmother married Zygmont Hildebrant, also buried in Oak Grove in St. Charles. Their son was my father, LeeRoy. My grandparents were divorced in the early 1920s, and my grandmother married again, this time to a railroad man, Charlie Frayne. They had two children, Charles Jr., 1923-1997, and Shirley, b. 1929. Uncle Charles had five children (one died as a baby) and Shirley had one. I have two brothers. We're all descended from that Gruenewald family.

Catherine Bradenbeck Hackel Meyer died of a heart attack in St. Louis at the age of 52. She too is buried in Oak Grove in St. Charles. If you look up the St. Charles library district data base you can find all the cemetery records for the Gruenewalds and their relations there.
