Hi Sherrie,
In South Africa the Grunewald/Gruenewald surname was changed to Groenewald/t. I know that a group came from the Baden/ Black forest area near Karlsruhe. It is also known that some of the Grunewald family's in South Africa has other origin than Baden. I think that they came to SA in the late 1600's early 1700's. Have you got any leads.
