hi dot hope my information is right. the first gudger that came here was from scotland his name was william we were first called goodyears and when he came here changed it to gudger. he came here in about 1770 landed in delware was a carpenter went to work for john young in maryland and married johns daughter martha patsy young. if i am right he owned the land were the golf course is near the receration park in asheville. let me know if you know if this is true. have a good day.
