We have not positively connected some of these family names. That is why we are doing the DNA project. I have a document dated 1687 from Virginia that bears the Goodger surname. We have confirmation that the double 'O' was pronounced as in 'gooey' and not 'good'. That opens up many family names. We have confirmed Goocher and Googer as Goodger relatives so far. Please go to http://www.familytreedna.com/surname_join.aspx?code=H69785&special=true and order a DNA kit (or just go to www.familytreedna.com and search on Goodger). I would recommend starting with the 12 marker test. When we get a match with that, the test can be extended to more markers to zero in on the family branch to which you belong.
Best regards,
Ron Goodger
