Dear Dawn: My great-grandfather is Pedro Guerin who according to our family was actually the younger brother of Ambrosia who was "adopted" by Philipe Guerin, Ambrosia's husband. At the time of the 1870 census for San Miguel County, N.M., Ambrosia was 19, my great-grandfather was 13, and Philipeand Ambosia had 2 kids: Miguel (age 4)and Juan (age 1).My great-grandfather was married in Mora and later moved to Trinidad, Colorado in the 1920's when my Grandfather moved there. My father was born in Trinidad, moved to Sapio, N.M., (a village next to Mora), then the family moved to Pueblo, Colorado. I grew up in Colorado Springs, CO.
When I was in high school 1976-1979 I used to go to Mora fairly often with a friend of mine whose family is from there and I talked to a man who was about 80 at the time
who was related to the Guerin's who own (or owned) Guerin Electric in Las Vegas. He told me that he knew of my great
grandfather and Ambrosia and told me then that Ambrosia and my great-grandfather were actually brother and sister and of Spanish and Pueblo Indian blood.
