I too am a Guerrero from Ecuador. My Grandfather (Luis Alberto Guerrero-Torres) was a Captain in the Ecuadorian Navy and was Director of Telecommunications for the country in the 1950's. I was surprised to see that one of the posts spoke of a General named Guerrero-Lizarzaburu, since my mother's maiden name was Lizarzaburu (more rare of a name than Guerrero). From what my dad had told me before he died, there were two brothers that came from Mexico, and that one settled in Columbia and the other in Ecuador. My aunt did some research in Salt Lake City but she said that earthquakes and fires damaged many of the records and that she had some trouble getting any records back before the late 1800's. Good luck in your search and let me know if I can be any help.
