We could be a distant relative. My great, great ancestor, MANUEL CLEOFAS GUERRERO came from Mexico in 1776, bringing with him his coat of arms emblazoned with words, AVE MARIA GRATIA PLENA, exactly the way you described it. In 1776, Manila, a colony of Spain, was being invaded by the British troops. Perhaps, Manuel Cleofas belonged to the Spanish Army stationed in Mexico and was sent to Manila to reinforce the Spanish Army in Manila against the invading forces of the British. When the skirmish was over, Manuel Cleofas was appointed gobernadorcillo of Bacnotan, a small tobacco town up north where he settled to raise a family. He could have married a local girl and sired a son named ALEJANDRO. Alejandro had 3 children, ROSA, CAYETANO and LIBERATO. It was from LIBERATO where I came from. One of the descendants of LIBERATO whose name was ALBINO married SEGUNDA KARGANILLA, my great, great grandmother. They had a son, DOMINGO who became also a gobernadorcillo of BACNOTAN. At about this time, the fight for independence from SPAIN was getting popular. DOMINGO, joined KATIPUNAN, a secret society organized to fight SPAIN for independence. Maybe, he dropped GUERRERO from his name and adopted his mother's name when he joined KATIPUNAN to protect his family. GUERRERO is a foreign name and KARGANILLA is a native. Anyway, whichever it goes, the blood of a warrior as a GUERRERO remained in his vein and never died in him.
