I am trying to trace my family back to Ireland & Scotland.
Alexander Gunning b. Cromac, Belfast, Ireland 1864. Mother Ann Jane Gunning/ Wallace/ Burns(?) Father James Gunning.
I have a letter from a cousin,Tommy Weames, dated 13th Dec, 1978, from Ayr, Scotland. In it Tommy mentions his grandmother, who he says is my ggrandfather's sister -her maiden name is Jane Gunning. Tommy has a brother who was born about 1913, because he was 65 at the time the letter was written, & his name was William John Alexander Gunning McCullough Weames (real mouthful). Their father was William John Weames who died in 1924 from affects of WW1.
Tommy's brother was named for his father - "William John",
my ggrandfather -"Alexander Gunning", & "McCullough" being his grandmother's married name & finally with surname "Weames."
Please -Do any of these names mean anything to anyone.
I am actually trying to trace ALEXANDER GUNNING born in Ireland, or rather his parents ANN JANE & JAMES, but I thought if you know of a connection to the cousin with the long name it might help.
Regards
Sandra
