I was excited to find your message about the GUNNING family bible, and in particular the reference you make to Laura GUNNING, whom I believe was born in about 1828. My wife is a direct descendant of a lady of the same name, who may well be this one. She married a London brewer called Henry GODING.
I am keen to discover all I can about Henry GODING, born in England in the very early 1800s. He ran a brewery called the LION Brewery at Lambeth in London. The brewery fronted the river Thames on the south side; see http://collage.cityoflondon.gov.uk/collage/app?service=external/Item&sp=M36011:T:T:T&sp=15606&sp=X .
Notice the large stone lion over the entrance gate in the picture at that link. This is made of Coade stone and now stands as a monument on the south side of Westminster Bridge in London, opposite the Houses of Parliament. It was once painted red.
Anything on Henry GODING or his family would be most precious to me. He married Laura GUNNING in about 1825 but I don't know much about her except that she is rumoured to come from Somerset, England. I don't know when or where they married, except that it must have been in England, most likely Somerset.
Does the bible you have mention any of this? Is there more information in there which could help my research?
