Sandi, I have been trying to research my grandmother's family history and came across your message. I am unable to go further back than my gran, but the family lived in Co Down, near Portaferry. The father emigrated to America with five of his seven children, although I am not sure when but it was probably later than you are looking, about 1870/80. I have been in contact with the Upper Ards Historical Society asking how I can find out more about the Gunning family. If I come up with any information, perhaps you would let me have your email address and I can forward it to you. Kind regards, Gillian Kingston
