Jan 8, 1908: "Gunning-Hudson Nuptials - John W. Gunning and Miss Ethel Hudson were united in marriage at the home of the bride's mother on north 4th street on New Years day..." (Estherville, IA Newspaper)

Aug 26, 1908: Word comes from Bigelow, Minn., that a girl baby was born to Mr. and Mrs. John Gunning on August 1st. Mrs. Gunning was formerly Miss Ethel Hudson... (Estherville, IA Newspaper)

Apr 20, 1910: Ethel Gunning was granted a divorce from John W. Gunning at the recent term of the district court. (Estherville, IA Newspaper)

SO - John W. Gunning was not dead in 1910, but divorced and moved away. He is found in Sioux City, IA:

1925 IA Census, Woodbury, Sioux City: John GUNNING, 40, Father - John Gunning, Mother - Elizabeth Burroughs
