WEST BALDWIN - Doris L. Guptill, 92, of route 113 in West Baldwin, went home to be with the Lord, Friday morning, Nov. 7, 2003 at the Springbrook Health Care facility in Westbrook, where she has resided for the past few years. Doris was born in New Brunswick, Canada on Dec. 29, 1910, a daughter of Oliver and Jessie Christie. She lived her younger years in Steep Falls and moved to West Baldwin in 1929, when she married her late husband, Roland Guptill. She was a member of the East Limington Baptist Church since her early teems and loved reading, studying her Bible, baking, gardening and had pen pals all over the country. She is survived by three sons, William O. and Kenneth Guptill of West Baldwin, and Delbert Guptill of Silver Springs, Fla.; a daughter, Glenna Peare of Baldwin. At the time of her husbands death in 1986, they had been married for 57 years. She also enjoyed her many grandchildren and great - grandchildren. She opened her door to several foster children, Cheryl (Lewis) Smith, Wayne Lewis, Roger and Albert Cannell, Arthur and Lucy Linscott and Arline Dyer. An hour of visitation will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday, Nov. 11, at the York Funeral Chapel, 71 Maple Street, Cornish. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. at the Chapel with the Pastor David Rowe Officiating. Interment will be in the West Baldwin Cemetery at a later date. Notify Administrator about this message?
