Hi Victoria -
Thanks for this. I am aware of the long history of this family in the Eastern US. The particular ancestor I am trying to trace (Thomas, born circa 1650) lived in Portsmouth NH and moved to Maine where he had his family, and as far as I know, all north American Guptills are descendants of this one man. What I am trying to find out is where did he come from, and when? I am trying to trace back his heritage to the UK, where it is presumed that he was from. The family rumour was that he was from Wales, but I am not so sure. My latest hunch has this family connected with Guphills in Warwick, England.
If anyone can help, please let me know!
