Hi! Sorry this is so late, but today was the first day I saw your message.
I believe the Joseph Gupton you are looking for is either my Great Grandfather or Great-Great Grandfather. This is some of what I have; if it looks right to you let me know & maybe I can help more. The one listed in the 1850 census would have to be my GG Grandfather, since Joseph Robert wasn't born until 1851. This information is from my Grandmother's Bible.
1. Joseph Gupton b. 1814
married Martha A. Jones b. 1820
Children: Joseph Robert, Judith A., Edmond Jones, Elizabeth Emily, Martha A., James Thomas, Mary, Pink Hawk Hank, Jacob C., M.E., and Dayton. (More info available on SOME of these)
2. Joseph Robert Gupton b.17 Apr 1851, Clarksville, Montgomery Co., Tennessee, d. 25 Mar 1945, Mayfield, Groves Co., Kentucky
married Mary Louise (Mollie) Cook (dau. of George Washington Cook and Louisa Mary Brown). b. 17 Jul 1855, Kentucky, d. 25 Apr. 1925.
Children: Clifton Cook, Luther Melvin, Lella Belle, Etta Dora, William Robert, Maggie Brown, Cleatus B., and Nona Nettie.
Nona was my grandmother; she married Chesley Moore in 1914 in Paris, Tennessee. Her son John was my dad. I knew Luther, Maggie, and, of course my dad's siblings and their children. If you're still interested, maybe I can help fill in some of the gaps for you. You will find Nona listed as Nora on most of the genealogy sites; I'm sure it's a result of bad handwriting! Hope this is some help to you.
