Descendants of Slavery

My name is Kathy Gupton English, daughter of Thurman Gupton and neice of Hurman Gupton (identical twins).

My grandfather's name was Charles Gupton who married Willie Harris. My great grandfather was Kenneth Gupton and his wife's name is unknown. They had a total of 13 children, 1 died at birth.

Kenneth Gupton (born into slavery) was a leader in the Marcus Garvey movement and died, (I believe) in Oklahoma. The twins were born in Beggs, OK.

We have a Gupton family reunion every other Labor Day Weekend. The next will be in the year 2000.

Thanks, Kathye
