NICHOLAS ORIL GUSS - Bavaria, Indiana, Canada
Posted by: Evelyn Stoltzenburg Date: October 27, 2001 at 12:12:10

I am trying to find information on my greatgrandfather's family and descendants. Information that I have is that Nicholas Oril Guss was born in Bavaria about 1846. He married Emily Cooper in Jasper County, Indiana in 1867.
At some later date he and his wife immigrated to Canada. He died at age 75 in the Province of British Columbia. One of his children was Nicholas Guss (my grandfather) who married Lena Engstrom and they had 11 children, one of whom was my mother, Irene Sylvia Guss. I believe that my grandfather Nicholas Guss had a number of brothers.....Ray Guss, Frank Guss, Joe Guss and sisters.....Flo Ess, Lil, Rose.

I have been able to find information on my greatgrandmother, Emily Cooper. She was born about 1850 in Jasper County, Indiana and died on May 20, 1918 in Prince George, B.C., Canada. She was the daughter of John Cooper, Jr. (Born Sept. 2, 1812 in Guilford County, N.C.and died on March 25, 1887 in Jasper County, Indiana) and Sarah Osborne (Born Sept. 14, 1810 in Kentucky and died Sept. 2, 1885 in Jasper County, Indiana).

I would appreciate hearing from anyone who could help me with my search.
