Totty: So your Gusts came around 1839 also? Would like to find out if they were related to mine. Martin Sr., wife Sophia and their son Martin Jr.(known by his middle name, Frederick), came on the ship named "Echo" in 1839. I believe they stopped in Ohio for awhile, then came to Milwaukee. In 1853, Frederick moved to Oshkosh. Martin Sr. and Sophia stayed in Milwaukee, and later died there. Could they have had other children living there? Do you know who your John Frederick's parents were? Some of my Frederick's children lived in Milwaukee when they grew up. Could their grandparents and aunts and uncles still have been there? Could your John Frederick have been Martin Frederick's older brother? Martin Frederick was born in 1815; he could have been the youngest of Martin and Sophia's children. Their were no other Gusts aboard Echo that I am aware of, so perhaps the older children came over first, then M. Frederick escorted his parents over, stopping in Ohio to join the others, then proceeding on to Milwaukee. My Martin Sr. and M. Frederick were carpenters/cabinet-makers. Martin Frederick was my gr-gr-grandfather. Chris Cook
