Pauline Gust and Michael Bergenske

Pauline Gust married Michael Bergenske, sometime after 1878 in or about Dane County, Wisconsin. I believe she died in or about Muscatine, IA, (possibly while living with relatives there), about 1896. Her younger children were raised at the Lutheran Orphanage in Muscatine. One daughter remained as a staff member at the orphanage.

I'm looking for any details on Pauline (her parents and siblings)and the family during the years in Iowa. Pauline had a sister Ottilie who married a Blumke, and they lived in Dane County, WI. Some of the children returned to Dane County, Wisconsin where they were born, and their father had remained; he died 1921.

Does anyone have information why the family was separated from the father.
