Myron,

I'm not sure I have any specific information on your family saga, but it seems to me there's got to be a common connection between the Gusts who migrated from Posen to Muscatine, Iowa. My grandparents made some notes about that part of the family; I'll check again.

My g-g-grandmother Gustina LONGSTADT MARTZ GUST was born Nov. 3, 1832, in Pason, Prussia (about 60 miles north of Berlin). She and her second husband Gotlieb GUST (1842-1897), settled in Muscutine, IA in 1881. If your Gust was living with relatives in Muscatine, these folks would probably be good candidates. FYI, I believe Gotlieb died of TB. (See previous note for names & birthdates of their five Gust children: Julius, Lena, Leonard, Paul and Emma).
