Thomas Melmouth Gwinn - Laurens S.C.
Looking for information on ancestry of my gg grandparents, Thomas Melmouth Gwinn ( b. Feb 1, 1827 - d.May 29, 1901) and Eliza Gillespie (b.Sept 20, 1825 - d. July 28, 1913). Both were born in Laurens, S.C. and are buried at the Confidence United Methodist Church in Avalon, Georgia, the town near which they last resided. He was a farmer and shoemaker. Their four children were Elizabeth Mahaley, Lewis Estes (my great-grandfather), Eliza Alice and Lola Gwinn.I have good reason to believe that Thomas Melmouth Gwinn's mother was a Heimback (also spelled Hanback and possibly Handback). I am told that Eliza's father was Silas Gillespie. Any help would be most appreciated. Thank you.
