HI there....John Balmer in Canada...my gggrandfather was a Carl (Charles) Haack who was born around 1817-18 in Germany....he came to Canada and had 8 kids that I know of....John 1855, Louisa 1854, Edmond 1858, Mary 1860, Charles 1862, Phoebe 1864, Caroline 1866, Augusta 1868....they were all born in the Conestoga area of Ontario, Canada which was just near Berlin (now Kitchener/Waterloo)
Other than he was born in Germany I have no information about his origins and just wondered if any of this new information rang any bells
The family was in Woolwich (Conestoga) in the 1871 Canadian Census
