Theresa Glawe was born on April 11, 1907, in Archer, Iowa to Henry and Bessie Baker Haack. She grew up in the Archer area and attended Archer School. On March 2, 1927, she and Lawrence Glawe were married at Sanborn, Iowa. Following their marriage, they farmed near Sanborn until 1936 when they moved to a farm in Lime Lake Township, Murray County, Minnesota. They built a new home on the farm and lived until they moved into Slayton in 1990. Lawrence passed away on July 2, 1993. Due to failing health, Theresa entered the Slayton Manor Care Center and passed away there on November 18, 2006, at the age of 99. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Slayton and belonged to the UMW. Theresa was a charter member of the Good Will Club and also belonged to the Friendship Club, Extension Club and numerous other clubs. She was an RSVP Volunteer and an active member of the Senior Citizen’s Club. Theresa enjoyed cooking, baking, and various needlework activities.

Survivors include four children and their spouses: Henry and Eleanor Glawe, Slayton, MN; Muriel Veenhuis, Slayton, MN; Virginia and Richard Portmann, Fergus Falls, MN; and Judy and Leon Betz, Worthington, MN; ten grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; two-step great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lawrence; grandson Lee Petersen; son-in-law Jim Veenhuis; brothers: Nicholas, John, and Pete Haack; and sisters: Minnie Roelofs, Coba Oosterhuis, and Bessie Unittenbogaard and a infant sister.

Memorial Services will be held at United Methodist Church Slayton, MN on Saturday, April 14, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Gwen Bohlke officiating. The organist is Lisa Schoen with special music by Scott Veenhuis both are her great grandchildren. The honorary pallbearers are her grandchildren: Debbie Peterson, Nancy Rodelico, James Veenhuis, Robert Veenhuis, David Veenhuis, Renee Portmann, Ronda Portman, Kimberly Betz, Jason Betz, and Justin Betz. Interment Slayton Memorial Gardens, Slayton, MN.
