Von Rothenberger lives near the Henry and Rose (Haag) Ise farm in Osborne Co., KS, and was inspired by Haag story as written by John Ise and published in 1932. John was inspired to document the Haag's life as farmers in the late 1800's in "Sod and Stubble". Von Rothenberger includes the excellent historical records gathered by Dr. Charles Robert "Bob" Haag in the latest version of S&S. Bob has gather both early history of this Haag lineage back to Germany as well as the family of Fredrick William "Will" Haag (one of Rosa's younger brothers, and my Great-Grandfather). This large family dispersed all over the country and many of us are related to this key branch.
Many people on this board may want to use this widely availble text as a key reference.
