that word haag originites from something like a bit of land with a fence around. In German there are still word like "Hagen" which is a fairly old word for a parklike patch of land. The pronounciation in German is like hawk, but not o, rather like the aahh when falling off a cliff. My ancestors come from the south of Germany via Russia (great grandfather) and Romania (grandfather)and I life in Berlin Germany now. Tada, Karl
