How do you search for Haag's in Germany?

I would like to search for my ancestor, Christian Haag who was born about 1808 in Bavaria or WURTEMBURG. Can anyone tell me where I can look. He came to the U.S. in about 1846 and lived in Wartburg, Morgan county Tennessee. He married Anna Buchfink in Germany. I have looked on Ancestry.com but dont find much except info about them in the USA.

Are there even records to look at? Can anyone point me in the right direction. THANKS!
