The Haagensen family that I am directly related to is a family that had it's origins in Vest Ager(Arendal) region of Norway. The search for this family geneaology is complicted due to the "sir" name spelling and usage. The spelling Haagensen is the original name. Yet, Hakkonsen was also and accepted spelling. Eventualy in America Hagensen became the common spelling. My Great grandfather was Halvor Hakkonsen, His son, Olaus,my grandfather, used Haagensen and later Hagensen. The family was established in Chicago with later generations in southern Illinois. Please contact me if further information is desired.
