I don't know about NYC, but my Grandparents were Haake's. My grandfather was Rev. Arthur Haake and grandmother was Amanda (Stelhorn) Haake. They resided in New Westminster, BC and settled in San Francisco, CA in the 1930's as pastor at Westportal Lutheran Church, but had their roots in Missouri and Illinois. Lutheran ministers abound in the Haake line. I have a book detailing my grandmother's lineage (Stelhorn) going back to the 1600's in Germany, but only bits and pieces of the Haake line. But names like Clara Haake, Wilhemina Haake, Paul and Arthur Haake abound.
