He came over to the States - NYK to Chicago then to Philadelphia to marry my Grandmother Kathryn McPherson Haak. We have little information about his side of the family. He was sent, probably from Germany, when he was 14 to avoid having to fight in the war. Probably married my grandmother round 1920.
