Adolph Habeck born on February 12, 1820 in Hanover Germany came to America in 1845, landing in New York. He married Teresa Shuman from Canada.They were married in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, later moving to Ohio where Adolph enlisted for the Mexican War with Company H where he served as Sargeant. He was discharged in Monterey Mexico in November of 1846 due to illness. He re-enlisted in January 1848 and served until the end of the war.
Adolph and Teresa had 8 children:
1. James Habeck
2. Albert Habeck- b. 4/15/1868 d. 7/8/1916
3. Teresa Habeck
4. Lena Carrie Habeck
5. Julia Habeck
6. Emma Habeck
7. ??
8. ??
On Sept. 4, 1861 when the call of arms sounded, he enlisted again in Company C, 54th Pennsylvania Volunteer as Corporal. He was discharged after the Civil War at Harpers Ferry, Virginia on Sept. 3, 1864. He returned to his family in Tarryville, Illinois (Tarryville later was named Congerville) He became the PostMaster of Tarryville in 1866 and remained Post Master until 1888. He was also a very good friend of General Gridley. Adolph's son Albert married Emma Raeuber daughter of John Raeuber and Barbara Farney. They had 8 children:

Julia May Habeck is my grandmother and she married Cornelius Gilford White on June 25, 1910. They had 9 children:
1. Virginia Elnora White- b. 2/25/1919(my mother)
2. Leona Ellen May White- b. 8/11/1911
3. Lewis Gilford White- b. 4/3/1913
4. Emma Alberta White- b. 3/6/1915
5. Woodrow Wilson White- b. 1/30/1917
6. Cornelius Habeck White- b. 12/13/1921
7. Grover Sherlock White- b. 8/16/1924
8. Julia Marie(Tootie)White- b. 7/27/1927
9. Joanna Belle White- b. 10/28/1930
