Researching my Habeck family that settled in both Blue Earth and Waseca Counties in Southern Minnesota. There are two Habeck families that farmed next to each other in 1870. They both came from the Kries Naugard, Pommern area of Germany / Prussia. Carl Habeck b. Jan 9, 1832, wife Wilhelmine b. Jan 14, 1834 and son Friedrich all came to the US in 1867. My Great Grandfather and Great Grandmother Frederick Habeck b. Sept 30, 1842 was from Wissmar and Ernestina Friedrika Wilhelmina b. May 3, 1837 (his wife) from Neuendorf. They were married in Neuendorf on October 18, 1866 and came to the US in 1868. They had their first daughter in Wisconsin in Sept of 1868 and by the fall of 1870 farmed next to Carl Habeck in Danville Township, Blue Earth County, Minnesota which is between Minnesota Lake and Waldorf, Minnesota. I have been reading alot of postings on different boards and most Habeck seem to come from the Kries Naugard, Pommern area which is close to the Baltic Sea. The Habeck's I have read posting on indicate Hackenwalde, Munchendorf, Trechel, Naugard, Wissmar, Neuendorf, and Massow. All seem to be within a 25 mile radius. After World War II the Kries Naugard district was given to Poland and all the German population was exiled from the area. Somehow I think all Habeck from this area are related if we can find family records between 1800 and 1840. Would be glad to exchange information with anyone on the Habeck family. Regards, Bill Habeck
