My Christian Friedrich Gotthilf Habeck was born about May 1824 in Trechel, Naugard. His father was Carl Friedrich Habeck. He was a farmer. Christian married Henrietta (or Johanna) Kühl, daughter of Michael Kuhl. The family moved to New York. Christian died onboard the ship. Their five children were all born in Trechel, Frederick, Auguste, Wilhelmine, August, and Carl.
The family may have been a part of the “Old Lutheran’s” who left Germany to avoid persecution when the Lutheran Churches were combined.
