The Ohio Michigan Illinois Indiana consortium of genealogists studying Swiss Anabaptists will be meeting at the Public Library in Berne, Indiana on Saturday, 4/6/2002 at 9 am, and those interested are certainly welcome.

David Habegger, a retired minister, who has been interested in the genealogy, travel and culture of the Swiss Anabaptists, who were mostly driven out of Switzerland, and then moved to Prussia, to the Alsace, and to Germany - into the Palatinate, and finally emigrating to the US, will present a talk entitled "The Arrival of the Mennonites and Amish to Adams and Wells County, Indiana, On Friday Evening, April 5th, at 7:00 p.m. in the historic Baumgartner Church in the Swiss Heritage Village in Berne, Indiana.

The Anabaptists (Mennonites and Amish and similar groups) entered Pennsylvania and Virginia, and then moved westward into Canada, as well as into Holmes and Wayne County, Ohio, and into Putnam,Hancock and Auglaize Counties in Western Ohio, and on into Indiana and Illinois.

A bulletin board has also been established for OMII,
http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec-htx=board&r=rw&p=topics.organizations.omii

and there is an extensive website at www.omii.org with well over 1 million

Interested persons can correspond with me on this list or privately via the above address.
Thank you

John Steiner
