I have Habels/Hebels in Wilkes Barre, PA and surrounds. The came here in the largest group in 1891 from Germany to Philadelphia and then Wilkes Barre. The oldest was Amelia (age 15) Helen and infant; Marie; and others. They came on the ship Belgenland and must have been meeting other relatives as they stated their destination as Wilkes Barre on the manifest. The came with a family named Braun and another family whose name I cannot read.
Amelia married James H. Curran and they stayed in Wilkes Barre; Helen, who was called Lena, married Daniel Nash and they lived in Bath, NY. Any of it sound familiar?
