looking for any info that you might have on the Habenicht family who lived in Columbia, Richland County, South Carolina.
the earliest i have is Christopher Habenicht, born abt. 1849 in SC. his family was from Germany. he died sometime before 1910, since the census of Columbia, SC. noted that his wife was a widow by that year. Christopher married Sophie Margaret Seepers (b. abt 1858 in SC., and died in Columbia, SC.) they had 9 children: Frederick Seegers, Gertrude, H. Rudolph, Dorothea, Lula C., J. Edward, Amelia, Christopher C., and Bertha H.
i descend from Frederick Seegers Habinecht's line. he was born Oct. 31, 1893 in Columbia, SC. i dont have death date yet. but i do know that he was part owner of a sporting goods store called "Habinecht- McDougall & Co." Frederick married Bertha Margaret McDougall(Apr. 13, 1895-Sept. 3, 1916) on Feb. 5, 1915 at the Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Columbia, SC. she died 10 days due to child-bed fever after the birth of daughter, Margaret Hermine (Aug. 24, 1916- Oct. 23, 1999).
