Will of John Habermehl

"In the name of God amen I John Hovermale of the county of Berkeley and the State of Virginia being very sick and weak in body, but in perfect mind and memory Thanks be given unto God. I do make and ordain this my last will and testament that is to say principally and first I give and recommend my soul unto the hands of almighty God that gave it and my body I recommend to the Earth to be buried in decent Christian burial at the discretion of my Executors nothing doubting that but at the general Resurection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and as touching such wordly Estate where with has pleased God to blefs me in this Life I give devise and dispose of the Same in the following manner and form.
First I give and bequeath to my beloved son Christian Hovermale whom I likewise Constitute make and ordain he sole Executor of my last will and testament all and Singular my lands messaugey and tenements to him and his heirs and assigns forever and also I give to my Son Christian all my wareing appearl, and also one fifth part of all my cash and Just Claims by bonds notes and open accounts.

Secondly I give and bequeath to my beloved Son Frederick Hovermale one fifth part of my cash and claims aforesaid and also one hundred and forty dollars to be paid in three annual payments the first So became due one year after my decease to be paid by my Executor to be raised out of my lands to the said Frederick Hovermale his heirs.

Item I give to my beloved Son in Law Peter Zeilor one hundred and forty dollars and one fifth part of my claims as aforesaid to be paid in manner and form as aforesaid. Item I give and bequeath unto my beloved Son in Law John Files one hundred and forty dollars and one fifth part of my claims to be paid in manner and form as aforesaid. Item I give and bequeath to my beloved granddsons and grand daughters the children of my Son Lewis Hovermale deceased of the County of Washington and the State of Maryland one hundred and forty dollars and one fifth part of my claims to be equally divided and in three years after my decease to be paid to them as they become of age with Interest Exclusion of the first three years. Item I give to Margrat Hovermale my chest. Item I will that my Executor sell my bed and bedclothes bedstead and Equally divide the price thereof as aforesaid and Lastly I do notify and confirm this and this only my last will and testament. In witnifs thereof I have hereunto let my hand and Seal this thirtyeth day of December in the year of one thousand Eight hundred and fifteen."

John Hovermale

       At a court held for Berkeley county the 11th day of March 1816. This Last will and testament of John Hobermale dec'd was produced in court and proven by the oaths of Michael Widmire and Phillip Farber two of the witnefes thereto and ordered to Recorded, and on the motion of Christian Hobermill the Executor therein named who made oath there to according to law. Certificated is granted him to obtain probate thereof in due form of Law giving Security. Whereupon he together with security entered into and acknowledged a bond Conditioned as the Law directs.
