Dear Donna
Like you my family came from Ireland, but if you try to search the name there you may have problems, the exact origins of the name are unclear, we know that some Irish families were using the surname "Habron" as early as the 1700s, but it was probably not the original spelling.
For my side, my Grand Father Thomes was born in a tiny cottage in Co Galway in 1883 his birth name was Thomas ABRAHAM which is a shortened version of the Gaelic name
Mac Ahmbreatham (or similar) meaning "Son of the Judge" when his parents brought him to England, for some reason his three brothers were baptised Habron, the pronunciation by Irish people is the same.
Undoubtably some of my ancestors came to America, and I am in contact with family there whose ancestors spelled the name Abraham, Abram and even Hebron.
Good luck with your research
Howard Habron
